Kavadipat

Pune is one such blessed location that you have umpteen number of spots where you just cannot resist to take the camera out and start shoot. If you are inclined towards bird watching Kavadipat is one such location. Located approx. 10 km from Hadapsar on the Pune Sholapur highway, it is easily accessible by bike or car.

To reach Kavadipat, cross Hadapsar and get going on the Sholapur highway. After the toll plaza keep a watch for Manali Resort on your left. As soon as you cross this resort there is a narrow road which goes off the highway through the green fields. Once you cross through a railway level crossing, you enter the village and road turns left and then right arriving at a dead end.

There are many people who usually come down to this place and horn their photo grahy skills. It is a small village located at the banks of Mulla-Mutha and has a bund on it. The water which is stored there makes the area a boit marshy and a perfect place for the birds to feed.

The best time to visit is during sun rise.

I am not a very keen bird watcher but have managed to dig out the names of those which I was able to capture through my lenses.

Sand Piper

Common Kingfisher

Black Winged Stilt

Brahminy Duck or Ruddy Shelduck

Black Winged Stilt

Common Teal Female and Northern Shoveler
