Pune Tribal Museum

Mornings covered in the blanket of fog; a common sight of the winter mornings. Here in this part of India, during winters there is so much of fog and dust during the early hours that photography becomes more frustrating rather than challenging. For those feeling helpless in such sceanrio, I would advice, switch to indoor photography locations.

So to keep the fire burning, I started the search for places which would provide good indoor photography locations. The first thing that comes to my mind are places like museums. As usual, Google comes to rescue. A random thought ran through my mind: what if search engines like google, bing etc, were not existent? Google etal are like Brahmastra for technology guys like us, any problem refer Google!

Finally it was zeroed down to the Pune Tribal Musuem in Bund Garden. This place like most of the Punekar must have seen it, some even closely the Bund Garden Traffic police station is next to it ..

This place though not much appealing from the outside, but I must say a treasure from inside. This place contains numerous artifacts which will provide a insight to the native tribes of Maharashtra.  Front exhibit rooms have several pieces of everyday artifacts (bowls, tools, etc).  The next is a great display of musical instruments, including drums of all sizes.  The room across the courtyard has a large collection of tribal jewelry.

Arguably the best part of the place are these masks, you have it for almost all the Gods and daemons.

There is one hall which showcases the tribal jwelleary as well.
