Kasarsai Dam

Want to enjoy a break not very far from city but away from the maddening crowd? Kasarsai Dam or the Kusgaon lake is the safest bet for you. Mulsi, Panshet Khadakwasla and places alike are no doubt good hangouts but they are far more crowded and definitely not my taste.

I was in search of a place which is beautiful and most importantly calm. After quite a bit of pondering on the internet, I came to know about the this place. Not a common destination and hence you do not much is written about this place. Surprisingly, it is just 8 km from Hinjewadi, the IT hub of city.

Getting to this place is quite simple, once you cross the Phase I square head towards Hinjewadi Phase II and take the right turn at Mezza 9 towards Marunje. Cross Marunje and Nerhe to reach the Kasarsai village. Once in the village proximity, head till you reach a square, straight will take you to Somante and left you would see a sugar factory. Turn right and follow the patchy road till you reach the dam.

This dam is a small one if you compare with those mentioned earlier, but the beauty is no less. This dam is surrounded by hills on either side and capturing sunrise as well as sunset is definitely a treat. I was lucky enough to reach there at the break of dawn and was able to capture a beautiful sunrise.

This place can be a good short trip, given it is very close to Hinjewadi; in fact you can see the high rises of Hinjewadi from here! I saw couple of people cycling to this place, to get a refreshing break from the maddening city crowd.
