Since my first visit to Kawdipat (link to my previous visit is here) in early 2014, I keep visiting this place to fine tune my photography skills. Happened to visit this place again and I see considerable changes to the environment. A clear sign how the city pollution is affecting these small creatures. This place as I had mentioned in my initial write up; is on a bund created on the Mula-Mutha that flows through the Pune city limits. The water is murky and had turned black with pungent odor. This is primarily because of the sevage and other unwanted discharges flowing freely from the Pune severs into the river. This has taken a toll on the water quality and on those who are dependent on it.
Lately, I saw a drastic drop in the bird count. It might not be wrong to say that the population of birds have decreased about 40-50%. Other factor which has added to this sharp fall is the increase in water hyacinth and human activity. Previously I used to see only a few people interested in photography used to frequent this place. Now I see people coming down in large groups only to dis balance the delicate system. This time I saw people even canoeing in such waters!
Anyways, got few shots which were satisfying and returned with the thought that are birds slowly moving away from this place?
